Weekend Trailer Show in Canby

The weekend started off with Bill taking his overtime as comp time, and arriving home just after Kristin's Hip Hop dance class. We quickly got packed and loaded the truck, loaded dogs, kids, suitcases and decided to hit Aurora on the way to Jen & Brady's. It was a beautiful day and a nice ride up. We toured a few antique shops before the kids got bored and wanted to head to Jen & Brady's.

Jen had just gotten home from the vet with one of their dogs, and Brady was on his way home with pizza. We took chips, pop, and with pizza we were all full quickly! Yummy pizza! Brady's Mom Kathy stopped by, and we enjoyed a nice visit. The kids played, we visited and then all headed to be around 10....as we were all exhausted.

Saturday morning we awoke to kids giggling, and playing. We had a great breakfast of pancakes and bacon compliments of Brady & Jen's fine cooking. After breakfast, a friend of Jen & Brady's showed up to stay with the kids, while we headed out to the trailer show in Portland. Ryan probably could have stayed with them, but for the time we were going to be gone, the distance we were from Canby and the fact that their friend Sandy had tons of fun things to do with the kids, made it an easy decision. Ryan & Kristin were a great help to her with the kids. They made rice crispie turkey's, did some sticker pictures, and did some finger painting.

We arrived at the trailer show at 11, and made our way to the back of the expo center to miss the crowds. Jen & Brady found a trailer that they really liked, but we continued through the show, and looked at not only pull behind bunk models for them, but 5th wheels for us as well. We were just looking for our 'next' trailer, which will not be a bunk model!! There are lots of new great ideas out there. We really liked the Doubletree line of trailers, but they are more than our first house was...but probably built about the same...very well!

We went through the whole show, and Jen & Brad saw many that were nice, but either too long, too heavy or too much! We ended up back where we started, and they did some talking to the manufacturing rep for the company they were looking at. They found out there was another model that would suit them better that was not at the show. We decided to have lunch and head out to the lot to take a look.

We went to Claim Jumpers for lunch....incredible food--their lunch portions were huge! Brady (and Jen!) had tri-tip dip for lunch that was superb, Jen had fish & chips that had a great tarter sauce, Bill had sliders (much better than White Castle) and I had bow tie Alfredo pasta--it was wonderful!

We went to the trailer lot where Jen & Brady did some looking, which turned to buying! They got a great deal on the trailer, a 25ft bunk house pull behind, with a queen size pull out that makes them have almost a 30 ft living space inside! It's a great layout, and lots of room for kids, dogs, toys and growing room for more "stuff". We are very excited for them, and will all take a trip for their maiden voyage to the coast for Thanksgiving.

The kids were happy to see us when we got back to Jen & Brady's about 5:30. We had such a late lunch that we fed the kids, and snacked later on the yummy rice crispy turkeys that the kids made! Ryan & Kristin had a hot tub dip before bed, and Jen & I sat out later in the hot tub visiting while the guys watched the Oregon/Washington game. To bed about midnight. Pretty good for all of us who were tired from all the walking today!

Sunday we woke to sunshine and kids playing hide & seek. It's Jason's favorite game, and although he hides the same place each time, Kristin or Ryan would always go look for him. We had breakfast, and then Brady, Jen & Bill emptied the old trailer so it was ready for trade in this week. With the three of them, it took about an hour and a half, and then we headed for home. It was a great weekend, and so much fun helping someone else spend their money!

We arrived home, had a lazy Sunday afternoon, and watched the Wizard of Oz...as it was Kristin's first time seeing it. The guys of course grumbled a bit but it was fun to watch a girly thing for Kristin. She loved it!

I had a great weekend! We need to have more hot tub visits! It was nice to talk just the two of us! Again, thanks for all of your help with the kids this weekend!
