Bill's God Moment

Most of you who know Bill, know that a lot of his life has been spent "questioning". His faith has grown so much this last year and although his walk with God has strengthened, the Lord still chooses to give Bill these incredible signs. Some of you might recall Bill's Billboard from God, or the bumper stickers, just to name a few. Here is today's scenario:

Bill has been trying to fix the power windows in the jeep for a few weeks now. We traced wires, found that everything seemed to be working fine, so assumed that even though the master switch was testing OK, it must be the problem. We ordered the switch. We waited for the switch to be delivered, and it arrived on Friday. Bill put the switch in....alas, still no power. He spent all day Saturday rechecking what we'd already traced out, checked, and fiddled with. Last resort, he pulls the motor from the drivers door. It has power, and works with no load....now we are stumped. He decides that he's had enough for the day, so closes the car door, and heads inside to relax.

I ask him a while later if he had prayed about it. He said "No, I hate to bother God with such trivial stuff".

I told him that God was his Father, and tells us to ask him all things. Just like we as parents want to make our kids happy, God likes to make us happy. I used this scenario: "Say Kristin came out of her room to you with a purse that needed the strap fixed--something simple, trivial. Would you do it"?

He said, "Yes--I guess I get the picture".

Not TEN minutes later, Kristin came down the steps with a new purse she had just purchased to go with a wedding dress she bought for Halloween. She said "Daddy, this strap is too long....can you tie it up so it's the right length for me?"

We both just looked at each other. Bill said "OK God, I get it!"

Kristin was asking what he was saying that for, so he told her the story....amazing!

Thank You God for showing us the way when we doubt!
